I’ve assembled and calibrated my printer and it works fine whit PLA.
At this point I would like to try using the filament of ABS
In the operating instructions Velleman I found the procedure for loading and unloading of the filament but not for the passage from PLA to ABS (or vice versa) preventing problem to nozzle.
Thanks.
When going from ABS (in my case colorfabb XT) to PLA, I load filament as for ABS, as it obviously has to be hot enough to purge the previous ABS / XT filament. Works fine for me, PLA didn’t suffer or burn / block the nozzle.
Thanks to bisquitlad for the useful and fast response.
However I think that for Velleman will be appropriate to write something on the “using the printer articles” for this occurrence that is normal and frequent for all users.
Yes, it is a bit confusing. I remember my previous printer company got themselves in a bit of mess with lots of options such as “Load PLA, previous ABS, Load PLA, previous PLA”, etc. Basically you always need to load at the temperature to purge the previous material.
Very clear,
but wish to exclude the risk that when you load the filament of PLA with the ABS proceeding (using LCD panel) the material PLA soften inside the extruder ( due to the high temperature ) causing clogging.
