How do you clean the PLA leftover on the hotbed?

Hello,
There is a small leftover once the part has been printed, on the original hotbed. How do you remove the plastic in order to have the hotbed ready for another printing?

  • which liquid does one use?
  • should one dry the hotbed with microfibre cloth?
  • which product should one NOT use?
I can’t seem to clean the hotbed properly.
    Best regards,
    Thierry

Most of the time if you let the bed cool the project will let go.
The other parts should peel off easily.
I use alcohol to clean the bed.
If the print head is to close to the be it may leave a very thin layer of plastic.
That can be a bear to get off then I use a plastic scraper.

So far I only print in PLA

Hi,

my first prints were done on the heated bed, too. Because I did’nt like to scrap on the bed I used kapton tape then. Later I changed to a glass plate with kapton again. If something can’t be peeled of with fingers I use a scraper for vitroceramic. Many print can be done on that, if I think it should be cleaned I use alcohol.

I use a mirror, with cheap hairspray on it. When hot, it sticks dry well, I often have to let it cool because otherwise I cannot take the print off. When done, I clean it with soap in the sink. The remaining hairspray with whatever was PLA left go away in mere seconds.

Juanm has best answer but that’s just me. I use 3/8 in glass with cheap hair spray, White Rain in a pump bottle. and I only clean it with razor if it needs it and reapply spray

I’m still using the original hot bed, letting it cool down to room temperature is usually enough to unstick what’s stuck there. The printed job usually pops off (you can hear it) and the other perimeter is easily removed with a pair of tweezers.
