I would like some advice on what devices and software I should use for home automation.
I would like to have a system that monitors digital inputs and control relay outputs to display in a schematic.
Possibly a card for inputs and an output relay card although I have looked at a USB I/O module.
I am not a programmer so I could do with a more visual package if possible. That said I understand some is required and I am willing to learn.
Cost is a factor as I am just setting off I can’t afford to pay large sums. If possible I would like to have a system that I can expand.
To start with I want to monitor normally closed switch contacts from say a door/window. I would want to control relays to switch lights etc on/off. In the future I would like to monitor temperature in several rooms.
I would like to get or create a software that can visually display sensor status within a floorplan view. Is EXCEL capable of this?
I’m only starting out so not entirely sure what can be used. I need it to be quite simple with a view to expanding and changing it.
Not really.
Please understand that we do not supply ‘plug and play’, custom fit solutions.
Unless you can supply a detailed description of what you want to do, we are afraid we cannot help you.
Did you check out our Velbus home automation system ?
It features input modules that accept dry contacts and pushbutton modules with LED feedback. http://www.velbus.eu
