Hi, i bought the k8062 to other day and built it, the first thing i noticed was that the r9 resistor was missing but in the assembly manual it say “do not mount”.
I proceeded to build the kit following the instructions carefully but when i went to test (via usb) nothing lights up. Is there anyone that could help me and do you know if r9 is needed for operation. Can send pics of what ive done if needed. Thanks
The R9 is not needed.
When you plug-in the USB cable the “Power” LED LD1 is lit and LD2 must flash 3 times and must be stay ‘OFF’ until DMX software is started.
If no light, check the polarity of the LEDs.
when usb is pluged in nothing flashes at all. But i did notice that vr1 voltage regulator is getting very hot.
The regulator may be misplaced.
Check also the right polarity of the diode D1.
diode d1 has black collar facing to the white on the circuit board.
Both diodes are facing away from each other.
There are three diodes (ZD1, ZD2 and D1). The D1 is next to the voltage regulator.
yea black ring is facing towards battery
Seems to be OK.
And you have checked the positioning of the voltage regulator is OK too?
well there only one way that it can go
yea black ring is facing towards battery
BTW: There is no need for the battery in normal operation when connected to the PC. You may remove the battery and test again.
The “Power” LED D1 is powered directly from the USB bus voltage +5V.
If it doesn’t lit then there may be short circuit from the +5V to GND on the board.
Or some faulty soldering joint on the board…
