My Vertex har problems reaching the temperature needed for printing. Both the heater element and the termistor are correctly mounted, so the problem is not due to faulty assembly.
When turning of the top layer cooling fan the nozzle is able to slowly reach 260 deg C, but when the fan is on it reaches only 210, which makes ABS printing impossible. Printing with the fan off gives ugly prints.
Hooking up a multimeter reveals the cause of the bad performance. With only 1.46 amps flowing through the heating element it will only be able to deliver 22 W at 15 V (14.86 V according to the multimeter). That is quite far from the 30W stated in the specifications, and a probable cause of the heating element losing the battle with the top layer cooling fan.
Disconnecting the heating element shows a resistance of 9.4 ohm when cold.
How do I contact Velleman to hav the faulty part (the heating element) replaced?
