Handheld HPS10 doesn't display or detect incoming signal

Hi,

I have had my HPS10 for about 10 months and at first it was working fine. Having put it down for a while I have come to realise it doesn’t seem to display signal anymore. Below is a list of symptoms and observations:

-Unit turns ON fine, display is working.
-Features for calibrating and adjusting display scales triggers etc work fine.
-Unit is set to ‘RUN’ and not on hold.
-Test signal shows <3mv deviations (basically just no signal)
-Using a DVM I can check that the probe connections are not broken its fine + and -.
-Followed trouble shooting guide checking scales and performing long reset.
-Fresh batteries checked.
-Run from DC supply, no change.
-Connecting a variety of non changing signals e.g. 5VDC, 9VDC… no signal change.

What might be the problem?
If it has been damaged/is damaged what might cause this to happen?
If there are no simple fixes how can I return the unit to Velleman for repair?

Many thanks for any help.

When it was working it was so handy I really want to get it up an running again.

Cheers,
Nick

Most likely, the input section is damaged due to an excess voltage.
You can return your unit for inspection/repair.

Please return it to:
Velleman Tech. Dept.
Legen Heirweg 33
9890 Gavere
Belgium

US: please call (817) 284 77 85 for RMA.

Thats great, thanks for replying, I thought as much although I don’t remember any specific over voltage incidents.

Could you give me some idea of the cost of returning the unit?

Many thanks again,

Nick

Hard to tell.
Can be warranty, if not, max. a couple of 10’s of euros, shipping and handling excl.
