Glass Plate not flat

Hi, I own my vertex 3 weeks now and so far I’m very satisfied with the print quality of the vertex, I tuned it so far that the x and y tolerances are within 0.05mm. There is only one problem with mine Vertex. I cant get the first layer correct and got 0.4mm difference in the z axis. After trying to improve the nozzle to build surface calibration I found out that the Glass plate itself isn’t completely flat.

I Already raised the Glass plate from the Aluminium frame by supporting it on three small 7mm in diameter 0,5mm high spacers that fits inside the Allan key hole of the adjustment screws. I also removed the front two clips and placed one in the middle to hold the glass plate down on top of the adjustment screw with spacer. The glass plate can never wobble this way and is easy to adjust the nozzle distance at these 3 points strait above the screws. after doing so is still noticed a greater gap at the front two corners.

After roughly measuring the glass plate it self I found a difference of -0,2 mm in the middle of the plate on the x axis. and a 0,1 mm on the y. Also when looking over the X edge I can see that the glass is bended. Tomorrow ill take the glass plate to my work to measure it exactly.

My question is if anybody else had or has the same problem and what the tolerances are from velleman, if I can apply for a replacement?

Greetings, Remco SV

We’d suggest to open a support ticket.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

I measured the plate at my work and it was max off by 0.18 mm on the X. Not even exactly in the middle but more towards a corner :S I made a Pic and send in a Ticket to velleman.

Today I bought 4 single sheet , un tempered, 4mm glass plates at my local glass supplier. And I calibrated my Vertex again. First plate already looked flat with the paper method. I applied my second buildtak sheet on it. Soon I’ll print a big square with a cross to see if I can get within the 0,1 mm tolerances that I want.

This is an old thread, but I also found the glass plate to not be completely flat. It is understandable after reading a bit on glass tolerances.

It seem a good idea to buy several glass plates and use the best one.
