Geiger Counter K2645

Hi,
I have noticed that the detector’s monostable triggers every time the burst of oscillation used for the high voltage mulitplier is produced (approx every 14s). This has occurred since I made the unit (many years ago) and I have been unable to find the cause. When I used it with a computer I discarded the impulses that occured 14s appart but that is not a good solution.
Has anybody else noticed this with their unit and is there a known solution?

Sorry, we have no experience with this problem, as it has never been reported.
If desired, you can return your kit for inspection/repair.

If you decide to do so, please return it to:

Velleman Tech. Dept.
Legen Heirweg 33
9890 Gavere
Belgium

Many thanks. If it’s not a known fault or ‘feature’ I may have another look at the possible cause. I was trained in electronics so I should be up to the job but I’ve failed misserably so far!
What are the costs of a repair if I do return the unit to velleman?

Difficult to say.
Most likely, shipping and handling will be more expensive than the actual repair cost.
