I’m new to the electronics kit building and I’ve screwed up! I built the K8023 kit and it worked fine (a pleasant surprise to me). While wiring my relays I accidently shorted the power (12v) to the ground terminal on the reciever board and fried something. What components might I have damaged? If it isn’t too bad I’ll just replace the bad components…if not I’ll chalk it all up as a learning experience and buy another kit.
Well, I finally bought some resistors and diodes so I could fix this mess (sort of ticked at myself for burning it up to begin with!) After taking a closer look at the board I discovered that one of the printed circuit connections had burnt…the one between the D1-D3 solder point and the connection SK1 (second solder point in ) which I had connected 12v negative to. I jumper the bad section but that didn’t work so I removed and replaced D1 and D3…it worked! Only one of the diodes tested bad but I’m not sure which one it was. Thank’s for your help…as I said before, I’m real new at this and feel good about learning something new. Now to try to hook it up without ruining anything else!
