so i assembled my new k8400 and loaded up some velleman black PLA.
after some finetuning (shifted layers and such) it’s been running great.
then i wanted to try a new color (black gets boring) so i ordered some filament from conrad.de, that arrived today and i load up some glow in the dark filament.
but it seems to get stuck everytime i try to load it, i tried reloading the black PLA, and after alot of steam comming from the extruder it loaded fine. so back to the glow in the dark, and the same thing happend again.
pretty much have to take the tube out and pull the filament manualy to get it out while the extruder is heated, looking at the end of the filament the last 5-6mm seems to have melted and couldnt get thru the nozzle, so it’s a little thicker then the rest of the filament.
temperature is set to 210, could this be wrong (new filament is Renkforce)
or doesnt the renkforce glow int he dark go thru a 0,35mm nozzle ??
please understand stupid questions i am completely new at this printing stuff
I don’t know about the 1.74 glow in the dark filament
The 3.0mm seems to melt at a lower temp.
On my K8200 it strings a lot like it is to hot.
I have lowered the temp to 185C and seems to help.
I don’t want to go any lower because of the “Cold Extrusion” error
well took the nozzle apart today and guess what… full of crap
cleaned it out and tried to load the glow in the dark again (this time at 190) and it worked fine
thanks alot for your help
but i am not sure it’s the right temperature thou. looking at the print, it looks like there is half melted blobs in the filament, if that makes sense…
is there something like an easy guide for newbies like myself on how to finetune your printing temperature ?
is there something like an easy guide for newbies like myself on how to finetune your printing temperature ?
Well there’s not. It’s based on a try and error basis as all filaments are different even in the same brand but different color.
One thing is sure the default temperatures are way too high on the Vertex (actually the displayed temp is not accurate but about 10% over the real one - it’s the CTN tolerance so it can change with another batch).
Which brand do you use for your glow in the dark filament. There are huge quality variations. Always use renowned brands for your special filaments as they’re more tricky to get right.
i use a renkforce glow in the dark filament, i honestly thought filament is filament, but after hours of reading here on the forum i found out i was wrong, but live and learn
