Extruder nozzle tightening

Hi There all. Nearly finished my K8200 and so it is time to say hi on here!

One question

I noticed when tightening the extruder nozzle that there was a visible air gap between the nozzle nut and the pipe which goes through the heater block. This was tightened to 3.5Nm. This got me concerned as it looked large enough for molten plastic to escape and ruin the heater block too! I tightened a little further and the assembly broke :(.

New one on order now but: Is the air gap I am seeing anything to worry about? Was the part defective or was I getting too concerned here. It seems a little odd there isn’t some silicone O-ring or something reasonably thermally resilient to keep the seal good.

There should have been a wavy washer sitting on top of the heater block.
