Hello
Building my first vertex 8400 comes with hurdels.
I recently completed my Vertex 8400 dual head build, after calibrating and loading the dual software I went ahead to load filament for the first time.
Everything seems to go as it should, but after the heating cycle the extruder feeder motor 2 (as indicated on the cable label) does nothing.
I had a extra stepper motor (to isolate a probable stepper motor problem) and attached it to the extruder cable, yet still no response.
This machine is up untill now not able to execute te PLA load/unload functionality.
best regards, Peter
I guess you made sure that the nozzle corresponding to the second extruder is heating up properly. The motor will be turned off automatically if the nozzle is to cold as a safety measure.
Second, make sure that the stepper driver board is in the right orientation. It’s turned around 180° compared to all the other driver boards!
If both are correct, make sure that your driver board is not blown. Turn the printer off completely and replace it with one of the other (known good) boards and try again.
Never unplug anything to the driver boards as long as there is power in the system, it may blow a stepper driver (ask me how I know)
And last but not least: Make sure you use Arduino v. 1.0.6 to upload the firmware to the printer. Other versions may produce weird results.
