Extruder leaking when moving between prints

i run pla at 190 degrees and as you see the extruder leaks

i did increase the retract length to 18mm, no improvement

anyone have had the same problem?

Set your retract back to maximum 3mm, or you will face the filament getting stuck in the barrel of the hotend!

To reduce strings, try to step up with the temp in 10 degree steps.

I Print PLA at 220 to 230 degrees with my E3D hotend.

Setting wipe while retract in slic3r can also help.

Anyway, the velleman/3drag hotend is not known to be very “blob free”

That’s the reason i updated to e3d v6 which prints way more precise. Rectraction set to 1mm and absolutely no blobs or strings.
layer adhesion way better and more precise perimeters as well.

And :

The E3D V6 Full kit is cheaper than a replacement velleman hotend.
(found that out when i had my heater cartridge dead)

A more suitable air duct could also improve your prints. The one you’re using is mostly cooling the head. I have a horse shoe shaped one and have almost no threads.

Looking at the thermistor on the print head it looks like there is something strange go on with the wires.
You may want to look at them.
It looks to me like you hot end is running to hot.

You’ve got a good eye!
Sure, the thermistor should be placed correctly.

Thanks Deskstar

But looking at it again it looks like the nozzle maybe leaking as well.
