Extremely brittle Yellow PLA

Hi

I have now had 5 filament breaks in the last week inside the teflon feeder tube when using Velleman branded Yellow 1.75mm PLA. Each time there’s a ruined print and half an hour spent disconnecting the feeder tube, heating the nozzle, manually releasing the filament, connecting the feeder tube, loading new filament and starting the print job from the start.

My drum was purchased from CPC Farnell UK on 8th Jan 2016 and when not in use, has been kept out of sunlight in a plastic storage bin with a silica moisture absorbsion bag, along with my other PLA drums when not in use to keep them dry and in good condition. I have not had these brittle issues with Velleman light blue, white, black or green PLA I have tried so far. Just the Yellow!

My drum has a batch label of PLADJdBc01G, Item PLA174Y1, EAN 5410329593377, UPC 81635013747.

Annoyingly, it is inconsistent. I can take 2 metres off a drum and some sections are quite malleable and other sections snap with a gentle bend. Do I need to go back to CPC Farnell or can Velleman sort this out direct? Either that or I swallow the loss and switch to a different brand in the future.

This really seems a quality issue if you stored your filament right.
I would contact your supplier first for this and see what they can/will do.
