Emergency Stop

Not sure if this is the right forum for this question, but I can’t find anything more appropriate!

I have adapted my K8200 to use as a CNC milling machine which, within the limitations of my as-yet-unmodified Z-screw, works pretty well. However, on occasions, I find I have an urgent need to stop things immediately - but I can’t! Because the commands are buffered, when I see something going wrong - like the cutter trying to descend 5mm rather than 0.5mm - I want a means of instantly raising the cutter and returning the bed to home, rather than tearing its way through everything that I have done before like it does at the moment!

Does anyone know of a mod to either hardware or firmware which might let me achieve this?

The Emergency Stop is worthless, at least for emergencies. It seems like it stops it about 10 seconds after the button is clicked. It’s more of a “Gentle Stop”.

For real emergencies (like it bombing and trying to shove the table through the side of the frame) I started just switching off the power to the machine. I can’t imagine anything would be harmed.

Yes, I had considered that option! I was just hoping someone might have come up with a more elegant solution!

There are a few ways you could handle this.

One way would be to interrupt the enable line to the stepper boards.
