E3D V6 Hot end 1.75

Hi all,

I’ve been waiting for the K8203 kit after I got the K8204 z-axis upgrade and ended up getting the E3D v6 hot end kit 1.75.

I may have jumped the gun as I though it would be relatively simple to modify the extruder to support 1.75mm filament. After a bit of research it seems a little more complicated than I though.

Can anyone give an guidance as to the best way to modify the K8200’s existing extruder to be able to use 1.75 filament? Would it be best just to invest in a new extruder?

I don’t really have the expertise to design my own.

Any help appreciated!

Thanks

Maybe try my mount for the V6. : thingiverse.com/thing:548827
The filament is completely guided from the hobbed bolt down into the extuder.
If you finde the bore too big for 1.75 (as i designed it for printing 3mm flexibles) just modify the part in 123D Design Desktop. (free from autodesk)

Hi, the extruder can feed 1.75mm filament, it needs a simple modification though.
Check the assembly manual again the second photo on page 244 show the fitting of the “filament guide” this fits next to the “bearing clamp”. This is fine for 3mm filament but the clamp hits the guide before the bearing applies enough pressure to force filament 1.75mm onto the hobbed bolt (the next photo shows what happens).
Check yours first you might be lucky but I had to trim some material off the filament guide.
I’ve seen a different hobbed bolt advertised for 1.75mm but haven’t tried one.

Looks good.

Thanks for the tips guys. I’ll give those a go when I pluck up the courage!
