Hi,
I successfully install the CDM 2.08.30 WHQL Certified drivers on my laptop running Win 7. However, there is no serial USB port that pops-up in the device manager as stated in the manual.
I have tried this on two different laptops without success. What can be the problem?
Nothing happens either when I connect the USB-cable from computer to printer. No LED’s blinking on the circuit-board of the printer.
When I connect the power cable a green LED flashes shortly.
The driver only pops up when the printer is connected to the PC.
On the other hand when you connect your printer to the USB port 2 LEDs should glow (red and orange).
When you plug the printer in the mains the USB LEDs switch off.
do you have any other USB device with a matching connector (Mini USB B), that you could use to “test” the cable?
The USB chip on the controller board is (partially) bus-powered, so the voltage drop along the cable should be minimal. Either use the short cable that came with the printer (if you didn’t do that already), or try another good-quality USB cable. Maybe a powered hub could also help, if the issue is indeed related to bus-power.
If the cable checks out and nothing else helps, look for possible errors on the board itself. Is the socket connected to the board or is there a pin that looks suspicious? Does the USB IC (the one next to the USB socket, labeled “FT232R”) get hot when the USB cable is connected?
I have now tried another cable just to make sure but there is still no response whatsoever.
I cannot see any errors on the board but I’m no expert in these matters.
The IC you mention labeled “FT232R” is not getting hot.
As I understand there should be two LED’s that light up when connecting the USB-cable. If this is indeed suppose to happen there is no such response on my board.
I have tried to describe the issues that I have had with the installation and connection of the printer. With the help from some forum members I have done some basic tests and still get no response from the USB-connection.
If there are no other suggestions from you on things to try I will send it in for exchange.
