Digitally Signed Drivers

Hi,

We creating a new ICT suite for our Electronics department.

To do this they need some USB Oscilloscopes and we are looking at some vendors and models to see if they are compatible with the limited user accounts that all our staff and students run as. The drivers for the hardware need to be digitally signed to install silently when a member of staff or a student plugs a device into one of our PC’s.

We purchased one of the Velleman PCSU1000 devices as downloading the driver file from the site, it came with a .cat file which was Microsoft WHQL certified, perfect for our needs. However when we try and install the device drivers we are getting errors that the driver is not digitally signed and our limited users are being prompted for admin credentials to install the devices.

Is there another driver available with an intact digital signature?

Any help would be appreciated,

Thanks
Is there another driver available with an intact digital signature?
I’m sorry to say, there is no alternative (digitally signed) driver available for the PCSU1000.

Thank you for the information.

Are there any known vendors who supply PC Oscilloscopes that do have signed drivers?

Before searching other alternatives, I made a test with 64-bit Windows 7 version:
I created a “Standard User” account. Then I run the PCLab2000SE and started and run the PCSU1000 oscilloscope without any problem.

Yes, if you pre-load the driver as an admin, it will then activate as a standard user,

however, all of our PC’s are zero-touch installs from sccm, all software is installed automatically and has no administrator interaction. As soon as the PC’s are built then users are able to log in.

The requirement we have in looking for a USB Oscilloscope is that it installs without being pre-loaded by an administrator user,

Also the PCSGU250 (2ch oscilloscope / function generator) works fine using a Standard User account in Windows 7 x64.
The PCSGU250 uses Microsoft’s WinUSB driver. – But still there is the same problem – installation of the driver requires Administrator privileges.
