Dead PIC on K8055 (USB experimenter)

Hello, I recently bought and built a K8055 kit, but no flashing LEDs or anything when trying to connect. A friend with a working board lent it to me, and swapping the PIC makes my board go! :slight_smile:

Is it possible to copy the PIC, or is it code protected? Or can you send the HEX file for me to burn a new one? Or should I send the dead PIC back for replacement (which address, please)?
