Dc to pulse width modulator kit k8004

I bought the above kit to use for a golf cart. The motor is DC with brushes. Used 10K Potentiometer mounted on the handle of the cart to control the speed. Removed RV2 and hard wired this potentiometer in.
Bridged Vref with in terminal on J1. Able to control the speed of the motor but the unit produce little or no torque.
Any suggestions?

Hi,

You should mount RV2 on the board and connect it up as seen in figure C page 8 of the online manual.

Remeber the K8004 can only output 6.5 amps.

Hope this helps.

We can offer inspection of the kit, just to make sure it has been assembled correctly and to make sure it operates as specified.
However, it might be possible that your application is not or less suited for PWM speed control.

I have wired the unit up as denoted on page 8 figure C but the motor delivers very little torgue. It is a 24 volt motor at 150 WATTS. Thus it should use 6.25 AMPS and produce max torque. It appears the circuit cannot render 150 WATTS of power

The suppliers specify a voltage range between 2.5 and 35 volts at 6.5 Amps. Nowhere do they specify what the the max Wattage is. Could Vellaman be more specific

Most likely, as the power consumption is so close to the limit and most likely beyond at turn-on or under load, the limiting circuit kicks in.
You could try and put another 0.22 ohm/5W resistor in parallel with R8, to reduce the sensitivity of the limiter circuit.
Please note that this is just a hint, this has not been tested nor can it be guaranteed. It could just simply be the case that this kit is not suited for your application.
