Dc mean

Hello,

My english is not so good but i have a quastion.
When i have it on 5volt the main dc 3 volt

and when i put it on 2v the main dc shows a different voltage see my pictures.

Most probably there is some sort of assembly failure.
Please check all soldering and components.

This info may help us to locate the problem:
What are the displayed DC mean values at other V/div ranges?
You may use e.g. 1.5V battery as the DC voltage source.

I have soldered everything again.
And still have a wrong voltage

The results are now better than in the beginning.
Now you have to calibrate the oscilloscope.

  1. First adjust RV1 to middle position.
  2. Then select Options -> Calibrate.
  3. Then follow the instructions in the section “Advanced calibration” in the assembly manual.
  4. When done, select again Options -> Calibrate.

You may have to repeat the steps 3 and 4 until the result is good enough.

First the calibration always worked but now he said

Calibration results:

CH1 offset at 5V/div : 119 OK
CH1 offset at 1V/div : 85 FAIL
CH1 Y-position low 32
CH1 Y-position mid 128
CH1 Y-position high 223

Is the result the same always if you repeat the calibration?
If yes, you may do following:
Go to the folder: C:\Users<your username>\AppData\Local\Velleman\EDU09
Open the file EDU09.ini in notepad or other text editor.
Locate the line: v5_offs1= 85
change it to: v5_offs1= 0

Save the file.
Then run the EDU09 program.
Do NOT calibrate.
Is the scope working OK on all the V/div ranges?

Click “Run” and change the V/Div range to 5V, 2V and then 1V.
Does the trace “jump” on the 1V/Div range from the middle of the screen?

v5_offs1=0

it was v5_offs1=111

Your EDU09 seems to be defective.
The problem can’t be solved in this forum.
You can return the kit for inspection/exchange to your distributor or to:

Velleman Projects Tech. Dept.
Legen Heirweg 33
9890 Gavere
Belgium

He was sent Tuesday.
I wonder what it was

How long does it takes?
I send it 02-03 thats 3 weeks ago.

The repair dept. informed us that your issue has been treated on Mar 10th, so the unit should be on its way back.

hes back,
but they said Repair RMA:363386 (no faullt, normal behaviour)
But why is the dc mean still different?

Have you calibrated the scope?
If not, please select Options -> Calibrate.

Are there still differences in the DC mean readings on different V/div ranges?

Can you please do the following test:
Connect 1.5V battery to the scope input.
Check the DC mean value on the following V/div ranges.
5V/div range:
2V/div range:
1V/div range:
0.5V/div range:

Please post the DC mean readings on those V/div ranges.

As a reference, here are my EDU09’s DC mean values:
On 5V/div range: 1.4V
On 2V/div range: 1.50V
On 1V/div range: 1.47V
On 0.5V/div range: 1.52V

And here are the values when the battery is reversed:
On 5V/div range: -1.6V
On 2V/div range: -1.56V
On 1V/div range: -1.53V
On 0.5V/div range: -1.55V

The “true” value measured with a DVM was 1.520V.

I connected the edu09 on the pc and calibrate.

This is the dc mean

On 5V/div range: 0.5V
On 2V/div range: 0.69V
On 1V/div range: 0.13V
On 0.5V/div range: 0.72V

Now i Connect 1.5V battery

DC Mean
On 5V/div range: 3.9V
On 2V/div range: 3.94V
On 1V/div range: 3.16V
On 0.5V/div range: to much V

digital voltmeter 1,6V

9 volt battery
On 5V/div range: to much more then 20V

Now i put rv1 in the lowest position without calibrate.
On 5V/div range: the 9 volt battery is 16 volt
On 5V/div range: the 1.5 battery is 1,3 volt

My edu09 is grazy lol

Your EDU09 seems to be defective.
The DC mean values after the calibration should be about zero.

Please keep in mind that the forum moderators are not the people that handle repairs.
Did you include a note which explained the exact problem?
Our engineers do not have the means to check every possible functions and setting.

I put a note, en said that they can look at this forum topic.
That the dc mean not work.

And my mail adres and phone number.

Sorry, most likely it has been overlooked for some reason.
If you wish, you can return the item again.
This time, please include copies of this conversation.
To avoid shipping costs, you can also return it to your Velleman distributor.

They sent me a new one, and now its working perfectly
