Controlling K8000 with USB or with BV513 microcontroller

Hi,

I thought I will tell here what I have been up to this week.
byvac.com sells
BV4221 - USB to I2C converter - cheap
BV513 - PIC-based microcontroller which supports I2C. Basic programmed - easy.

I have been able to use both to control all the functionality of the K8000. I have just used one board but you should be able to control four boards.
On the BV4221 my current plan is to write Linux/Windows-library to make it’s use easy and programmable with K8000.
On the BV513 my current plan is to make it collect information and implement some kind of process control test with K8000.
On hardware side I will try to add features to K8000. (I sure hope Velleman will not discontinue this trusty K8000)

Let me know if you are interested - I will help with these products free. And Jim at Byvac is very good at support. He helped me enormously to getting these things going.
Before writing the libraries I would like to know if there is interest.

Let me know at klaine8@gmail.com

Best Regards
Kari

Thank you for your interest.
K8000 is a mature product. We have no intention to discontinue it at this time, however, development and updating has been stopped for this product.
