Controlling a VM129 using a K8000

I’m currently strugling to get a VM129 relay card connected to a K8000.

The K8000 is controlled using C# and that works fine for reading the inputs on the K8000.
Also the LED of the outputs seem to work when +I control a 0/I digital output.

When I connect the 0 and the 1 input of a Relais on the VM129 the relay closes.
So that also works.

I suspect that a I/O output on the K8000 functions like a switch? So no voltage, just open circuit / close the circuit?

But when I combine the to cards like :

The LED on the ouput of the K8000 lights up, but the relais does nothing.
What should be the way to connect both cards?

Kind regards

The connection looks OK.

Does the relay pull in if you short circuit the wires connected to “0” and “1” terminals of the VM129?

Yes, if I short circuit the input 0 and 1 the relay 1 connects.
But I can’t get it to work with the I/O of the K8000.

The LED of I/0 1 lights up but nothing happens.
BTW I also tried other I/O outputs, same result.

Is there a way I can measure if the I/O of the K8000 closes?

If you have multimeter you may check the voltage over the K8000 output. Should go low when the output is activated.

Thanks for your advice…

Nothing happens :frowning:.

So no voltage reading when activating the output.

There should be about 12V between the terminals when not activated and low voltage when activated.
The VM129 is connected there and supplies the 12V via the relay coil.

My bad

I did not connect the supply.

I can indeed measure a voltage over the 0 and 1 connector of the VM129.
But there is no voltage drop when I set to output of the K8000 to high.

So the multi meter is in parallel with supply.

Have you checked the optocoupler is in right position in the OUT socket of the K8000?

Yes it is in the correct position.
First 8 ports are in OUT position
Last 8 ports are in IN position --> And I can read the input. I used the K8000 only for the input ports until now.

I noticed that the VM129 has a AC-AC 12V supply.
Is that a problem?

If I would try to measure the Ohm that is over the K8000? Is that something that can be done?
And would this be done in parallel with the supply?

Kind regards

[quote]First 8 ports are in OUT position

The AC is no problem. There seems to be +12V DC internally on the VM129.

You can use ohmmeter in diode test mode to check the K8000 output.
The VM129 must be disconnected from the K8000 when you are measuring the ohms.

I have checked all the opto sockets and the IC’s.
Seems they were just placed randomly.
So most of them are just placed wrong.

I have got it working now on some of the outputs, which were placed correctly.
Good thing I had the card assembled by an electrician

Thanks a lot, I think I can fix from this point one.
