After recovering from my filament split http://forum.velleman.eu/viewtopic.php?f=62&t=13480 I reloaded the filament. The nozzle heated up to 210°C, the filament was pulled through to the nozzle, but no filament was purged - does that mean the nozzle is blocked? There was a slight clicking for 20-30 seconds then the head returned to home and the status returned to ‘ready…’.
The section of filament I removed after the split came out very easily, it didn’t feel as though it was stuck in the nozzle. Also the printer had been printing for sometime after the split so I assume all filament in the nozzle had been extruded?
You can try extruding a bit of filament by hand: Heat up the nozzle, squeeze the release lever and push some filament up the extruder. You should use a bit force and see some filament extrude out of the nozzle. If you cannot get the nozzle to extrude then it could be clogged.
Just started a print but there’s noting coming out. I’ll try your first suggestion, thanks.
I think I am just delaying the inevitable nozzle cleaning:-(
It could well be you will not have to clean the nozzle as an actually clogged nozzle is quite rare. Mostly there is just a bit of filament stuck in the ptfe tube or in the top peek part. Just removing the complete extruder nozzle and trying to pull out the stuck filament then is usually very effective.
