Computor will not recognise contrtol board

Printer assembled and USB/COM drivers downloaded as per instructions.

USB cable connected and nothing happens, no LEDs lit on control board and no device in device manager. I have tried a different cable. I have tried 3 laptops using Win 8, 7, and vista.

any suggestions please

Have you check the output of the power supply?
Should be 15Vdc

Having read other posts regarding similar problems, I gather there should be a red and green LED lit with just the USB cable connected, these then extinguish when the power is turned on. no LEDs are lit. LD1 blinks x2 when power turned on and then nothing.

There seems to be a generic problem with dry joints in other threads. does anyone have a photo showing the points i can check the continuity from the 5 pins at the rear of the USB connector.

Voltage is 15V

Hi Nigel J,

That is perfect, many thanks. No continuity from pin 1. Hot soldering iron resting on the tab for a few seconds done the job. we have a connection to the PC and they communicate. Many thanks for assistance.

Post fix question,

are these control boards not tested before being packed in the box. there seems to be a lot of threads with the same problem.
