I finished assembling my printer and set the motor voltage.
Now tried to Connect it with Repetier-Host V0.84. I have Windows 8.1 64bit.
At my fist Connect i had the baud rate set wrong, so i disconnected, changed it and tried to reconnect.
I get following error: Serial com error:System.IO.Ports.SerialErrorReceivedEventArgs
The COM Port is set right (Checked by unplugging the USB and Refreshing Ports in Repetier and the ‘right’ one disappeared).
Also I doublechecked every other Setting and it should be right.
Driver seems to be correctly installed too.
Since I read that the wrong Baud Rate on the first connect could be an issue because of it beeing saved in the EEPROM,
I tried clearing it (arduino.cc/en/Tutorial/EEPROMClear) but there i also get following errors when I tried to upload:
avrdude: stk500v2_ReceiveMessage(): timeout
avrdude: stk500v2_getsync(): timeout communicating with programmer
Unplugging, waiting, replugging, using reset button, nothing changed the situation…
I also tried with another PC (Windows 8) same Repetier version, same settings.
There when I press the connect button it changes to ‘disconnect’ and shows ‘connected’ at the bottom left and i get no error messages,
but issuing commands is just queing them up and not executing them.
At the start there are 4 Commands waiting.
Also if this is relevant, connecting to the virtual printer is no problem.
Another thing i don’t understand is the LED’s next to the USB Port are Green and Red, not flashing or anything (not when i plug it in or anything else), like described in other posts.
Any way you can help me?
Thanks in advance.
Greetings
Iskubs
Edit:
Random Fact: There definitely is a connection between board and computer, my laptops screen went off and tapping the reset button on the board made it come back on…
Couldnt find a Reset on connect option in Repetier 0.84.
Dowloaded Repetier 0.95F, there i disabled the reset on connect.
On fist connect i only get the same errors as before.
On second too, but with some other ‘stuff’ inbetween:
22:08:27.422 : Serial com error:System.IO.Ports.SerialErrorReceivedEventArgs
22:08:27.440 : N1 M110 *2
22:08:27.440 : N1 M110 *2
22:08:27.440 : N2 M115 *4
22:08:27.441 : N3 T0 *25
22:08:27.441 : N4 M105 *3
22:08:27.441 : Serial com error:System.IO.Ports.SerialErrorReceivedEventArgs
22:08:27.466 : ????????}}????????u????? //There is more on this line, somehow cant copy it :(
22:08:27.466 : N1?M110?*2
22:08:27.466 : Nd M00
22:08:27.466 : 3 T0 *2%
22:08:27.466 : N4 `05 *3
22:08:27.466 : Serial com error:System.IO.Ports.SerialErrorReceivedEventArgs
Should i try other Repetier versions?

Edit:
So i tried following Repetier-Versions:
0.95F & 0.90C, both same behaviour, error lines and some other lines
0.85b, 0.84, 0.72: only the Serial com error line (multiple times in all cases by the way)
I guess so, i can measure a voltage over the 2 screws of the power connector.
Once i measured a little over 1V then again 0.6V at a later point it was only about 60mV.
Is this abnormal behaviour?
was also wondering if the power is on… the green and red LED should go ‘off’ the moment you apply power to the printer.
Use your multimeter to check, just to be certain.
