Changing X position while printing

Since 3 or 4 days ago, the printer is skipping on the X axis while printing. VERTEX K8400

I checked everything, rods, belts, bearings, pulleys, bed, frame, motors, controllers, wires, changed filament, swapped motors, I tried slic3r instead of curaengine, I have no more ideas.

First layer, perfect, after that, loud noise from the motor and position it’s changed.

If you have any idea or suggestions I am here.
loud noise from the motor and position it’s changed.
It means the movement is blocked by something.
I’m afraid you’ll have to recheck everything especially the geometry of the rods (check the Wiki). But first try cleaning the rods and then re-oil them (dirt on the rods can make them sticky).

Thanks for reply.

I did this already. Rods are not blocked. They are oiled. No dust, not stuck. And they are aligned.

Hello,

i´ve have the same Problem here.
Since a few Days they Print a few layers correct, then loud noise and position changed.

All checked and oiled, not better !!!

What can i do ??

i have the same problem
I cleaned rods and i put silicone oil

i restore my firmware by printer (restore memory…) and it’s ok for me

What can i do ??
Realign your X and Y axis (check procedure in the Wiki).

First, thank you all for the reply .

Second: I did everything and still doesn’t work…

I have no more ideas, need help!

Right…

I will admit I didn’t hit it with the hammer. I did everything else but not that…

SO. After hitting it with the hammer … IT WORKS!!

Unbelievable.

thanks for the help.

Yeah old trick (re-watch “the longest day” ;).
Enjoy your printer.

And… now it’s skipping again…

To get a functional printer, everything must be perfectly aligned and tuned:

 • the axis
 • the belts
 • the pulleys (especially check the motor pulleys : than can easily get loose - thread-lock can be useful here).

Everything is aligned. If I push the head with the hand it goes smoothly in all directions. But funny thing. It’s skipping on Y axis now… Interesting.

Really, I don’t have any more ideas.

2 rods were sliding in the bearings while printing, interesting, but i fixed that, i read another post somewhere with someone having the same issue.

But really, all rods are aligned, all pulleys are good, belts are okay, belts are not jumping on pulleys, motor is not skipping steps…

An easy alignment test : when you move one axis by hand the belts of the other axis must not move even slightly.

Yes, it doesn’t.

If I move only the X, Y doesn’t move at all, or the other way around.

If one axis is shifting there must be something wrong with the carriage. If the axis are OK the next most frequent cause is a slipping motor pulley.

I understand, but it’s not.

I even swamped motors, and it’s still skipping. The belt it’s fine, the pulleys are fine.

If i print on the smallest speed it works, very bad quality, but prints.

If i increase speed, skippes again.

Have you checked the reference voltage of the stepper drivers?

Yes, on all of them. 0.905 ~ 0.915 v.

Could you post a video of the printer when the shifting occurs?

I don’t know how, but I’ll try tomorrow.

Thanks for the help.
