Changing out iglidur bearings?

been thinking about upgrading the assembly with the iglidur bearings in for cast bronze/graphite impregnated bearings,

has anyone done this or want to work together on this?

i did notice someone also made up a new piece to put a brass collar in to aid movement across the axis? i think thats right anyhow, maybe look at incorporating that see if we can make something to improve them long term?

Hello Luke,

i am interested in this.

Still i am printing a lot, not got any problems with that bearings up to now. (i lubricate every day with oil, made for air-pressure mechanic)

Have you found any proper bearings ?
(i have a good lathe, so i can do brass bearings, but a lot of work and for good one’s you need a reamer especially with dimension of this rods, not cheap)

Hey bud,

Currently working with another company to create these in the same dimensions as the iglidurs so they should just drop in

Main focus is noise and how freely they move in comparison, iglidurs website state that their bearing lasts longer than a brass bushing so I haven’t a clue on lifespan,

I think a lot of the motor noise on a vertex is down to strain on motors, so trying to find ways to eliminate this,

Literally moving house Monday so workshop/office is all pretty much packed, but hopefully with the larger workspace it’ll give me a chance to start testing stuff

So do the Iglidurs need lubrication?

Everything with friction runs better with lubrication ! ;-))
