Changed bottom fan place

The fan on the base plate should blow away warm/hot air.
After long time of printing, I felt some warm areas above the controller board.
I decide to build a new holder where the fan can blow directly over the controller board:

Now there are no hotspots anymore and I think the board will be better cooled.
Please tell me if Velleman thinks that’s not a good idea…

BTW: Are there other users where the new fan sounds like a very old fan? My new one needs some minutes to operate correctly…
(has nothing to do with the mounting, the fan also makes strange sounds if it is unmounted)
(if you like it: tinkercad.com/things/3G0D8hffC4K)

I have been planning to do exactly the same! And it seems that the fan could be a little bigger and run on fever RPM.
My fan also sounds like it had ran for years
I might get bigger and more silent fan for the drivers…

I’ve already glued heat sinks on top of the pololus and I’m planning to use an 80 mm fan on top of the controller board (still have to check if the output can drive it).

Fan sound: I removed the label on the backside and put some oil to the bearing. Seems to help.
Such a fantastic printer, but such poor fan quality…

I could imagine that it should be possible to use a bigger fan or use a second one.
A look into the schematics shows a FET driver, which should be able to drive that.
If in doubt use the fan power as a signal to drive your fans by your own driver unit.

Because the power unit is mount upside down a second fan could be a good idea…
