Hello,
I want to change my extruder to move in both Z and X directions and the bed in Y only.
Do I need to make any modifications to the firmware provided with K8200 board?
I really need some help!
Thanks,
Eli

Depends on how you want to make the extruder axis.
What is your plan?
Actually I want to do something like Prusa i3.
I will do the extruder axis as in the picture. I will remove the x motor from the bed and place it as it is on the extruder axis.
The y motor and z motor will remain at their current places.
Basically what I will do is to just remove the x motor and place it on the extruder axis.
Will I need to change anything on the firmware?
At a guess, I’d say no. The machine doesn’t care whether you move the bed or the head.
If you have the same pulleys, you will have the same relative motion.
The direction may have to be changed depending on the orientation of the motor and whether you attach the belt at the top or bottom.
You may have to think carefully about the filament feed.
Please, let us know how you get on.

I am turning my extruder from a direct into a bowden one. I’m keeping the nozzle moving on the x and z axes and mounting the extruder on the top frame. I hope this works! Thanks for the feedback. I will let you know if it works.

I fully agree.
But why make such an effort?
Changing the Belts with GT2/2mm and 16 tooth pulleys wil give you a lot better bed movement, regarding to speed and precision.
Anyway, nice mod you plan there!
If you complete it i’m keen on the results.
cheers,
Christian
Thanks for the advice. I’ll try that too. Well it’s basically a project I’m doing and I want to create with the existing kit another printer.
I would also like to ask how i can change the home coordinates. Can I do that by changing them through the software ( ie Repetier Host or Cura) or it has something to do with the firmware?

AFAIK, if you don’t resize the print area it should work by only changing the values in repetiers print setting.
