Well just finished the assembly of my K8400 with good expressions…
So I did all the steps in the manual and when i plug in the power i see a small flash from the motherboard that I thought was just a led but it turns out that 2 of my controllers burned directly.
So the 2 remaining drivers seem to be somewhat hole but there comes the second problem when i try and move the z-axis motor (dissconnected it from the assembly to test) it only clicks once that it gets power and then does nothing… Also having trouble with getting to low voltage to the LCD. The main board gets its 15volts. The drivers that are not burnet also have the correct voltage at 0.9v and 0,917. The burnt ones are at around 0,2 volts and 0,9 but nothing happening when i try and use that one.
So suggestions?? why wont it work??
Also it has 1,4 firmware that has been flashed with 1.0.6 arduino.
To avoid experiencing the same problem again, please check your complete wiring for errors, shorts, etc…
I thought only screwed up motherboards where asked to send in due to high costs, all other components a picture showing whats damaged as proof was sufficient…
I have burned a stepper driver in the past, after months correct operation one died. What I did was: make a macro photo of driverboard and open a ticket at support including the picture. 7 days later the mailman brought me a new one.
I have real good experience with the NO-bullshit policy velleman has. Just explain what’s broken, show it with a picture and without further questions all parts get replaced. This is actually NR: 1 reason I bought a velleman 3D printer and not some cheaper chinese machine. Hope all of the above is a misunderstanding and gets solved really quick!
We recommend to return them direct to us to save time.
Apparantly, this has not been the best advice given, for which we apologize. What I can recommend is to open a support ticket anyway and tell them about the defective parts, that you sent them in, and that you have not heard anything yet.
Same for spaceorange12, create a support ticket so you have something to fall back on. They may ask you to return the parts, they may send you the parts immediately. If it takes more than a week to respond, inquire further through the ticket.
When creating the ticket, make sure to be as clear as possible about what parts you need. Avoid technical questions or long explanations. Also make sure that your home address is complete (street + city + country).
The forum moderators (like me) handle the forum, while both the tickets and what you’ve sent get handled by the repair department. So a ticket allows you to get in touch right at the source. I agree with you that this is process has not been very streamlined…
See this shit makes me smile and still think velleman is the f’ing BOMB!
Great job @VEL448Love the no-nonsense attitude!
Again Kudos to velleman and VEL448 to acknowledge the problem.
Nothing is perfect, but openly admitting something went wrong isn’t the easy/cheap way.
But it is the right way, and makes me proud to be Belgian!
@Kastman Now PLEASE quadruple check your wiring before plugging the machine in… You still don’t know exactly what caused this in the first place and 99% of the time stuff like this is wrecked by user error.
