Broken Filament

Hello and greetings,
sorry my english isn´t very good.
Hope someone can help me to proof my problem.

i build up an vertex 1 week ago. everything works fine. love the detail setup notice from velleman! nice work!!!
2 other guys now also buyed one, after seeing the vertex at my home.

Ok, here is my Problem

When i print an small part, or an part with many infills the extruder drive backwards an forwards.
This is ok, but after many hops, it will brake the filament and the printing job ist ruined.
It is possible that the extruder shape every forward/backward movement a little bit from the filament.
After several movements the filament breaks, because it is to thin?

I tried the same printjob twice und the filament break at the them layer. :-(.

The problem with no feeding filament is also in differents printjobs possible. there are at different hights. :frowning:

I had somewhat the same issue, but my issue was that my printer is in a sound insulated box with no ventilation the temperature goes over 40°C and the pla gets to soft. Marlak posted a upgrade extruder which solved that issue for me. It’s on thingiverse search for K8400 feeder. But if it doesn’t get hot at all maybe check if the screw where the arm with the bearing pivots on isn’t to tight. And the feeder pulley is aligned well.

thank you for your answer jeafke,
temperature is not my problem. the room temperature is 21°C.
the printer stands centered to the room with enough space around it.

i found some parts at thingiverse for the k8400. but i didn´t remarked the extruder.
the arm at my extruder is very tight. i need a lot of strength to push the arm away from the filament.

at my next step, i will try to print the part from thingiverse and try it with the vertex.

i tried the last few hours to print the part which broke the last two times.

at extrusion setup in repetier host i disabled “aktiviere retraktion” and now the part is printed completely.
i think in english it sounds like activate retraktion.
