Best ABS profile/instructions?

Velleman has an ABS config file available for download here:

k8200.eu/support/downloads/

But it says it only works with Repetier 0.90 and Slic3r 0.9.10b. When you go to the Repetier website, there is no version with that number.

Is there a comprehensive guide somewhere to setting up the k8200 for ABS?

You can use the Velleman settings as a starting point to tweak.
They should work under Repetier 1.0.6 as i use them therein also.

Although, i use the Cure engine that came with repetier 1.0.6 now for slicing.
It is much faster and gives better results.

To print with ABS you need a external 24V power supply to heat the bed at a suitable temperature. Or you can use a BuildTak sheet (not cheap !).
To get the ABS sticking on the bed, I spread a thin coat of PVC glue on the bed and heat it at about 85°. And I put a half centimeter brim.
The extruder temp varies with the ABS brand you’re using but is about 230-240°. Don’t use any cooling or the layers won’t stick. You’ll need to put a heat shield under the head or the heat will melt the ABS while printing small surfaces (the head stays too long at the same spot).
And you can start with the Velleman settings. Print a few test cubes to adjust the settings (mostly extrusion width and flow).

I have found that a glass plate and hair spray works well.
You do need to make sure that you don’t get any hair spray on any of the parts.
Maybe use the type that comes in a pump canister.

My wife definitely uses the wrong hair spray:
With her hair spray nothing holds to the bed - neither PLA nor ABS.

I will tell her to get a good spray

To be serious:
It really depends on the spray you use.

However: for ABS the standard PCB is ok when heated to 90+ ° and roughening the surface.

Deskstar is right.

You might know this already but I will throw it out there anyway.
Make sure the bed is grease free and clean.

I use alcohol on mine.
I have also found the more I cleaned it the better thing stuck to it.
The glass makes it easier to level.
