I am going to cut the belt for the x carriage. In the instructions it says
Now from the end you just cut, measure the belt for 63.5 cm (25") or 127 teeth.
This measurement is critical. We advise to count the teeth and also measure the distance before cutting.
When I measure on my belt 63.5cm is on the 126 teeth and the 127 is ~64cm. This shouldn’t be possible on a T5-belt. When I measure 20 teeth the distance is not 10cm as it should be but more 10.1cm.
Which is the more important 127teeth or 63.5cm?
Take the 127 teeth.
The lenght measurement should only be used to check for huge counting errors.
I cut it at 127, but it doesn’t fit, I can not tighten the belt.
When I measure it its 64.5cm long. 63.5 is at tooth 125.
I have counted them 3 times. They are 127, I have measured them again and again, it is 64.5 long and Its marked T5.
Does it matter if it is only 125 teeth or must the belt be replaced?
(The pice that is left is 86cm long and has 169 teeth. 86+64.5=150.5 and 169+127=296 teeth. Should have been 150cm and 300 teeth)
I don’t really understand why you cant tighten it.
Just sliding the ends more towards each other before clamping it down should normally do.
Maybe post a pic of yor problem?
So the actual number of teeth doesnt matter. Just the length so it is tight enough.
Thanks.
