Ok Gents, I have run into a problem, can you please help.
I have replaced the wiring in the printer with new wires, especially the heaters, that all works well, but, when I tried to resolder the bed temperature the little dot pulled off and I had to try and fix it. Soldered a wire straight from the Thermistor to the new wires, but when I tested it I was not getting any readings, I then found the thermistor was broken. I tried to get a replacement part here in Darwin but Jaycar do not stock any, so I put a normal 100K one in and stuck this to the bed with kapton tape, it now reads 275C and goes up and down dependant on the temperature but will not read the ambient temp at 24C, If I put heat on it, it goes up correctly. Can someone please tell me the correct type of thermistor to use until I can order a new “official” one, or how to calibrate the one I have installed to read correctly.
Can you determine what type your replacement thermistor is?
It is likely that there is already a fitting thermistor table in te firmware.
Going through the mods I made last night and this morning and I think I put a 100ohm thermistor in instead of the 100K Ohm that should be in, will check when I get home tonight.
Thanks for the help, it made me think. I may have to put some cork under the bed as the replacement wires from the thermistor are just thick enough to lift the bed slightly and cause it to bow. Does anyone have a clip that I can use for 5mm glass pane on the bed? I printed the ones from Thingiverse but they are for 3mm and I have not yet got my head around using the 3d software to modify them.
You can simply use large document clips, widely known as “Alligator clip”.
They should be available in almost any Office supply store.
Thanks ichbinsnur I used the bulldog clips, also changed the thermistor for a 100k ohm one and all is working well, printed some good bits but on one or two the print moved by 1 or 2 mill and had to reprint. (Think the x axis missed a beat).
Thanks again.
Nice to hear it’s working!
Happy Printing!
