Hello Vertex Support Forum,
I think I have a bad driver board. Below is what I have tried so far, quite long but I wanted to be complete.
controlling from display -control printer-auto home
x and y home OK, but z does not move (sounds like a small step then nothing)
before “home” all 3 steppers can be moved easily by hand, after home all 3 are holding position - can’t be easily moved by hand
Turned all power off, disconneted USB, then back on with USB
controlling by repetier
x and y are OK - move under repetier control including home
z will jog a small amount then stop - with holding torque on
“z home” in repetier gives no response except to set the z display to 0.00
additional z input from repetier results in no motion but sometimes changes the repetier display, sometimes a “command waiting” message which switches back to “idle”
switched x and z end stops in case a bad sensor was telling board z was already at end - x still homes ok, z still does not move.
switched x and z driver boards
homing from control panel: z now homes, y homes, x does not move
all motors and end stops have performed OK, but one driver board seems to be defective
just in case, swapped the extruder driver board with x
homing from the control panel - x,y and z all home ok
the extruder driver board was OK in x position and homing works correctly
checking the problem driver board in the extruder positon, repetier does not move the extruder motor
looking at other posts, preheated extruder first (note: extruder heat and fans seem to work OK), tried to move extruder from control panel-move axis with no luck
switched bad driver board out of extruder socket and another in, extruder motor responds from both repetier and control panel-move axis
before i take the time to get a replacement, is the only possiblity a bad driver board?
