I am trying to make a system to automate the opening and closing of a curtain.
the system is build with a network of ropes that open and close the curtain this is then connected to a motor, the polarity of the motor determines wheter it is opeing or closing.
this whole system should open and close using a time switch. the point is that I need some way to “tell” the system 2 things, when the curtain is open or closed, and then accordingly open or close it, and it needs to know when it is done opening or closing the curtain so that the system will then stop the motor to prevent damaging any of the components.
I allready found some modules like the VMB1BL ( http://www.velleman.eu/downloads/0/velbus/manuals/long_version/vmb1bl_uk_rev2.pdf), but the problem here is that you set the time that it should run beforehand, and it doesnt stop running when it is done. Detection of the end by a microswitch!?
this would not be a problem if you know how long it wil take exactly but since this system might not always be as smooth,
sometimes it wil take a bit longer and sometimes not. so I was thinking about some sort of switch that the curtain pushes when it is open or closed, to send a signal to the module to stop working.
if anyone has some suggestions I would really apreciate it.
