Whenever I start the printer, and select auto home, it travels slightly to the left (x-axis) for each time I select auto home.
Then this position is the new “start position”. If I manually select to move the x-axis, it interprets this as the start position.
All this also applies to when I begin a print. So the starting position is shifted to the left every time.
your problem sounds like the controller always got the x-endstop hit.
When doing the auto-home function the x-axis moves towards the end.stop until it is hit, then a short way left just to find the end stop again. Since all the right moves are missing, the end stop is on all the time.
Therefore you should check all the wiring of the the end stop (LED has to shine) and verify, that no particle or loose part is activating the end stop signal in the light barrier. You may carefully remove the cap covering the LED and the light sensor for that.
Does this happen to the y-axis too? maybe you have switched the links.
My end stop was completely soaked in mineral oil (my fault, I use to much on the rods)
Remove the end stop, wipe it down and reassemble. That worked for me.
Ditto mine was too, thought I was going mad, cleaned it with cotton bud and lens cleaner and problem sorted will now add that too my maintenance notes. Thanks
