Auto home not working (goes to front in y-axis)

Hello

I just finished the assembly, and wanted to start the alignment of all axis.

Unfortunately, when i select the home function, the extruder does not go to the back-right, but front-right (after a while).

When I manually moved the printhead to the middle and then use auto home it goes to the top, right, middle (not top, right, back). If I use auto home multiple times it goes forward a few mm each time, and it finnaly stops at top, fight, front.

I noticed that the red diods on the z and x endstops are shining but not on the y-endstop.

Any ideas? Please help.

Axis are badly aligned. http://www.k8xxx-3dprinters.crimed.be/w/index.php?title=Vertex_K8400_3D_Printer and check the XY-carriage alignment procedure. Raby has described it excellent on that page.

Check the wires on the end stop.
Maybe swap it with the X axis to see if the problem moves with the end stop.

Both Wrong Way and jeafke were right. I found two cables to the y-endstop that were cut off! I don´t know how it happend but I soldered together them. (this explains why the y-endstop diod didn´t shine!)

Now the auto home works, but it does not go smooth in the end (probably y-axis), and it makes some “grinding noise”. I have to align the axis better tomorrow as it might take some time and patience.

Thanks for the help.

Now auto home works smoothly

I did like in the XY-Carriage Alignment guide from the wiki, but perhaps not all steps. The things that helped me most was to move the two clamp on each axis outwards. I had to be very precise.

I did as in the guide: “To know if you got it right, do the following : put the print head in the center of the printer ; remove the end cap of one of the lateral axis and slide the axis to release it from the ball bearing on the opposite side - try sliding the rod back in the bearing - if its not dead in the center of the bearing check where the rod is hitting the bearing : on the outer border of the hole --> the clamps are too far away from each other ; on the inner border means the clamps are too close from each other.”

I did however not use a hammer but twisted and pulled the clamp a little bit inbetween each test.

Thanks for the help. I feels much better now that it works smooth

Good to hear it’s all working properly now.
Enjoy your kick ass printer!
