Auto home noisy

Hello,

I just finish my k8400 yesterday night. It look to work well. I made an accepatble first print. I only have a question about auto home. When I perform this action, the head goes where expected but it’s very noisy. The head move but continue to juddering noisily for 1 or 2 sec. Is it a normal behaviours?

Thanks

G

Hi gjoliet,

No it’s not normal. Your X/Y axis are not correctly aligned. Have a look at the Wiki about this issue.

Also a pulley could be mounted too far from the edge of its rod, which could prevent the print head from reaching and triggering an end-stop sensor.

Ok I will check all those things and print some alignement helper.
My understanding is the head should go home smoothly whitout any noise nor juddering. As long as, I have such thing I should rework my alignement. Right?

Thanks a lot.

I just see I’ve missmatch Ardiuno software. Is it possible it come from a firmware error?

All is possible but less likely. The axis struggling to reach the home position is more probably a mechanical issue.
To be on the safe side upload the firmware with an Arduino 1.0.6 before testing further.

It was only a mechanical issue. I move a pulley, check lignement, knock the clamps to move it by a fexwthenth of mm, … no more moise when housing.

I made some printing test. For a first try it’s quite good. Incontestablely, it work with a firmware compiled with Andruino 1.6.0 … (setting for Board Mega 2560)
