Here are some pictures of my moded printer. Now I am quite happy with my prints, but still some mods waiting. If you need some files, I can post them.
Very nice !
Except for the controller
Must have been a lot of work.
Heh, controller is the work in progress. I had to move it for the second Z axis. Now I’m thinking of another parallel alu profile in the back, so the frame gets sturdier and there will be place for my controller.
It was some work, but it’s a hobby, so I enjoyed every minute:)
Hi, stunning!
Looks like GT2 16 tooth mod on the X & Y. Did you lift the motor so the Y axis belt passes over the X axis support rods? If so I’d be interested in the files please. Also have you had any problem with the belts jumping teeth on change of direction? I’ve only converted my X axis at the moment but it jumps teeth on change of direction (guessing my acceleration is to high).
Are you using 16 or 32nd micro stepping? If you are using 32nd, was it worth the change as well as the GT2 16 tooth modification, or can you not tell much difference?
Hi,
I lifted the motor for 12 mm, so the belt is over the x axis support. I will attach the files later as i’m not at home right now. I don’t have any problems with belt jumping teeth but I haven’t checked with higher acceleration. I am using 16nd micro stepping, the quality is quite improved. The torque is better so in theory I can use higher acceleration and speed. And it runs MUCH smoother.
Here is the link to files for GT2 upgrade I used:

Note that these are not my files, I just extracted them from another users scad file as you can see in the description.

Impressive work!
What type of ballscrews did you use, and where did you source them?
I used 12x4 from Aliexpress:

Thanks for the info.
What z resolution do you get? Doy ou still uste the stock 1.8° stepper motors?
I use stock stepper motors. Z resolution is not a problem, 4/(360/1.8*16)=0,00125mm/micro step or 0,02 mm/full step.
