So I have the unit all assembled and have done the firmware revision to one head. Gone to the point of loading filament and now I’m stuck. Multiple issues?? below that I am confused about and if anyone can answer any or all of them that would be fantastic.
Filament is loaded into the feeder tube to be visible (Approx 1.5mm), hit the button and the heater starts to warm up. I am using ABS as that is what was available for purchase at the store where I purchased the printer. The table does a return to home movement and the display shows x/y at 200 and z at 0. The table was already at home. I see the led lit on the printhead, the fans start and the temp reading goes up to 245 degrees over a couple of miniutes. As the temp gets within a few degrees of the setpoint, the led flashes and then goes dark. The table does a from home to home movement and the head cools down to ambient (in this case 22). The fans do not shut off once ambient is reached and never do shut off at least in the 15 minutes after, before powering down the unit. There is no movement on the filament feeder motor and there is no feeling that it is getting any power (vibration). There is always an Err: MINTEMP warning shown on the bottom line of the display. Also the bottom fan so far has never run that I can tell, and certainly not during any of the motor movements when I understood that it should run.
Everything up to this point has been completed successfully and according to the manual. Table is level and I can move all motors manually from the control panel, and there appears to be no binding. Assembly appears to be letter perfect as per the manual. Firmware was completed successfully.
Am I missing something stupid, did I do something stupid or what. Any thoughts, especially if they solve the current trouble would be greatly appreciated.
Hi :
The Err: MINTEMP means one of the expected devices shows not temp reading. It happens when you’re using the 2 heads firmware with only one head. From your post I take it you uploaded the 1 head firmware.
Did you upload it with Arduino 1.0.6 (and not 1.6.x)?
After the upload did you update the EEPROM Values (Load defaults/Store memory)?
For security reasons Err: MINTEMP will always prevent your printer from loading filament or printing.
I had originally used the incorrect version of Arduino loader, but then switched over to the correct one. I ran the upload of the update 2 times over two days and each time also did the EEProm update and store memory. Each time that I did these last two steps, all I saw on the display was a blink of the display, no confirmation etc. So I assumed that it was good to go. There was nothing in the manual stating that there should be dialog of any kind for these two steps. Your point two would answer why I have not seen any feed of the filament. Is there anything else that I can try or should be trying to get the error message cleared and back on the correct path??
So after taking a break and coming back to the printer I see that this time when I power it up it shows that the error is gone and the unit is ready. I proceed to complete the filament loading and it all works as per the manual. Exactly!
What went wrong?? Well it appears that once I did the upload procedure of the new firmware that I never did reset the controller or power cycle it. Either the USB or the AC was always supplying power to the unit. Once I did a power cycle it came up running the code correctly. I assume this is what happened as I have not done a whole lot of work with Arduino so am not fully aware of this kind of thing.
Anyhow, it appears to be working and I am now on to learning what needs to be done to design/slice/print objects.
