Allbot behaves differently when disconnecting USB

When I run a programm on the Allbot with the USB cable connected to the PC, it works ok. When I disconnect the USB cable, the Allbot starts behaving differently. The servos start moving in small steps. When I connect the USB cable again, the program works ok.
Of course, the batteries where switched on all the time.

Problem solved: I had used rechargeble batteries, which had less then 5 V. Using fresh alkaline batteries solved the problem
