Aligning the Nozzle on dual head printer

Hi Guys,

Just mounted my new Printer.
Everything uptil now has been great following the build instructions. No Problems at all. I have been happy with all parts of the buildingprocess so far. Some of the nuts is not easy to access, but some issues is adding upn on the funfactor as long as I can solve them in the end.

Since this is a kit with two nozzles. How do you guys align the two nozzles correctly?
Straight from the build I can see that there is difference in height on the two needles. Anyone created a Alignement tool for the head? or have any tips on how to get them aligned? Using the “paper” trick, I can see that the head to the left is touching the paper before the right one.
Have tested to print with both nozzles. Prints with the left nozzle is just a bit harder to loosen then finished than the one to the right. Probably due to the difference in height?

Can it be the tube inside the nozzle/head that is cut with to big difference?

Hi,
I dismounted the longest nozzle and shortened it on the inner, upper plane area. Not the printing side.
Sanded carefully, mount, measure with feeler gauges. Repeated until equal height.

Did something very simular to largab but i was maybe a litle more brutal i used a dremel. Works  In my case it wasnt much of a diff so didnt need much.

Thank you for the feedback, sand/dremel it down and use feeler gaues was good input.

I need to measure again, and maybee look at the washeres used. Manual states 47.00 mm so it might be best to get that correctly dialed in for both nozzles for later references as well. Looking in the instruction, can it be that I used different force then mounting thru the washers to the extruder mount plate?

For me it lookes like even the instruction picture has different height on the nozzle. It might be the picture and the angle.

Adjusted the printhead today.
There was no need for grinding. Only some adjustment on the tension for the plasticwasher.
Had to loose the right side, and fasten the left side a few turns each. So finaly I am ready for Dual prints

Regards

That is good  Shouldnt need todo a mod like me and larg needed even thow it was a small tweek.

Once day, someone sensible will provide us with a head that can be lowered or raised by means of fine threaded adjustment collar. Until that day, we have to continually mess about readjusting head heights manually… :frowning:

Question:

Will it help to loosen the one print nozzle slightly to adjust the nozzle height?

I have a slight difference in nozzle height and it keeps on knocking the workpiece off as soon as it reached a few centimeters. Really ticking me off BIGTIME.

Not sure that’s the way to go. Yes, scuff marks, collisions, etc. are the reason that Ultimaker decided not to go ahead with dual nozzles - they never found a decent solution.

What we need is individually adjustable heads, say on a threaded collar, that can adjust the height and be locked in place. Then basically most of our problems with dual nozzles would go away.
