A problem I can't solve

A problem with the K8400.

Let start with the good news:
5% of attempts produced a good result.

When printing a project, the machine makes the following faults:

  • stops during printing.
  • get printing spontaneously on a other place during printing.

The reports on the screen are different.

  • vertex is ready
  • vertex is stopped
Sometimes the screen is frozen and the encoder button doesn’t work.
Have to switch off the main power.

By testing all the movements (with the encoder button) of the machine, I discovered that the Z-axes stops on any arbitrary moment.
On the status screen, he gives a temperature of 736 deg for the print head.
To get back to a normal situation, I have to switch off the main power.

To avoid the mistakes I’ve taken the following actions:

  • created tools for the parallel mounting of the X- and Y axis at 0.02mm.
  • The power supply via a UPC 600VA
  • made drawing with google sketch, make them manifold with modelrepair.azurewebsites.net and use the VERTEX repetier-host.
  • created a airflow for the main-board.

I also build a heated print platform with an external thermostat.
All parts of this platform a electrical grounded.
After removing the heated platform, there was no difference in the malfunction.

What is wrong with this machine ?

Your issues can come from various sources.

Three possibilities :

  • the G-code is truncated
  • Noise or power surges on the mains.
  • Noise generating sources(s) like neon lights, motors etc… (particularly critical if you’re using the USB cable).

Same as the two last above.
