A 2 Unaivers version of k8062

Hi,

A k8062 with 2 universes would be nice. I have some times need to 2 diffrent outputs. this is way software would see the universes.

UNIVERSES CHANNELS
1 1-512
2 513-1024

Both universes will send from 1 to 512 in the dmx adresses.

If I what to trun on a ligh with address 8 on univese 1 it would be send like this from the software 1-8@100his
Can have a diffrent devcice set at address 8 on unives 2 and it would be sent like this form the sotware 2-8@100

I would be intested in 10 of them if they were made as I have bought a load of them for friends and put them togeather for them.

This would almost be the same as connecting a 2nd k8062 to the pc/laptop

It seems that you need a DMX controller with two OUT connectors and with the firmware supporting two universes of 512 DMX channels. This is quite a big modification to the existing K8062…
Indeed, large control desks may have the capacity to control multiple universes, with an OUT connector provided for each universe.
The hardware and the firmware of the K8062 supports (only) one universe of 512 DMX channels.
This is quite enough for most hobbyists…

Hi,

Thank you for the reply.

Me and my friends have used this kit k8062 for a bit more that just playing with it we have use in diffrent theatres. A friend and I have writen our own software and it even very basic and does more than we need. I have tred out other usb to dmx interfaces and I have found k8062 more reliable but would love to be able to use 2 of them on the one pc or have one with 2 out puts as my first post.

On the other hand would it be posable to get some custom made in qty of 10 or 20.

Thnak you for all your help.

Tony

It’s nice to see the K8062 is suited to your needs quite well - so far.

When browsing this forum, you may have seen that some minor PC software changes have been made based on customer requests.

I’m sorry to say, but the modification to add the second output is beyond the possibilities at the moment. The hardware and software modifications are too big to carry out.

At least these modifications should be done:

  • New microcontroller with two serial ports (USART).
  • New firmware
  • New PC software interface (k8062e.exe, k8062d.dll)
  • New PCB with two differential bus transceiver ICs SN75176
  • New enclosure with two XLR connectors
