3D Printer mainboard

I bought from Conrad the K8400, assembling was fun, and my first testprints looks really nice. Overall this printer gives the most value for your money. My biggest downside with Velleman is its
support. I create a ticket because the rods are to long. I get a replacement and the 4 new rods are even longer then the initial ones. But my biggest issue is this. After a couple of days the 3D printer board gave no sign of live after turning the printer on LCD on black. So i unplug everything and check with only a usb cable connected to the board and look if its accessible. And the board starts
to smoke like crazy. And now comes my big pain. Conrad takes full weeks befor they send it to Velleman. And to replace this part Velleman needs 6 weeks. And this is unacceptable for me because in the end i cant print for 2.5 months totall perhaps longer. And i know troubleshooting a board replacing the broken parts will cost more then a new board so why on earth does it take this long.

About the rods. The package Velleman sended was so unprofessional shipped. 4 rods lose in a paper bag wich was delivered open??? and with LCD electronics wich the connectors where bend.

My afterthoughts, i think the 3d printerboard isnt well engineerd, for a couple of euro’s you can implement a resetable fuse or some electronics on sockets.

where the 2 middle rods also to long? or only the 4 outer rods for X/Y?

because i think that my inner rods for X/Y are to long…

The length of the rods is mentioned in the manual

Subkit 6. RODS

The rods wv-8f7-350 are 351mm, you cant place the endcaps because the rods stick out of the plastic casing. The casing itself is exactly 350mm. My problem with Velleman is although made a very
nice 3d Printer. Is the way they package the rods with electronical parts damage and … the rods still are to long. Perhaps say to the supplier to create 349 mm rods and they will get the thing right. But this way Velleman doesnt seems to do a really professional job and to wait for a replacing part for more then six weeks is unacceptable for a 3d printer board from arround 50 euro’s.

Sorry to read that you experience problems.
A quickeer way to get your board fixed is to return it immediately to our repair dept. instead of your distributor.
