i reduced the speed to 50% (reperier host). no changes in settings from slic3r.
most important is a proper belt tension and a leveled bed with a dial gauge.
reducing the print speed to 50% made a big improvement in the print quality
The fact that you print layers of 0.25 surprised me. I would expect that finer prints need thinner layers but when I was experimenting with layers of 0.15 to .2 I was getting all sorts of unwanted effects e.g. strings, blobs and the print quality was bad. Any idea why that would be? I wonder if it has anything to do with precision in the movement of the z-axis.
Hi koke,
how did you set the extrusion width in Slic3r? Percent, millimetres or auto?
Cheers,
kuraasu
Default extrusion width is set to 100%, why?
Hi koke,
because that means “100% of the layer height”. So, when you reduced the layer height to 0.15 mm, you also set the extrusion width to 0.15 mm, which is too low to produce a continuous flow of material through the 0.5 mm nozzle. For low layer heights, set the extrusion width(s) in mm or increase the percentage accordingly (e.g. 200% for 0.3 mm width at 0.15 mm layer height).
Cheers,
kuraasu
that explains a lot. thanks!

How exactly you reduce the speed there is no such a option in repetier host ? Or i could not find it
go to the right panel and look for “Speed Multiply”, there you can change Flow & Feed Rate while printing.
U mean under section manual → Extruder ? Ahh ok got it now…
I was trying to print that screw and this is outcome
It is not that bad, however when extruder bridging from 1 object to other you can see this blobs on side of the screw, what can be set to make this go away pls ? also on the top of screw it is clear visible that there was to much heat and fan was not able to cool it down any idea on this pls ?
i got the blobs too, i could remove them by just touching a little.
here a more detailed photo
Did you all these enhancements?
adjustable Belt Tension, most important since you have to get them very tight.
3 point bed
better Bed Leveling
Z-Level micrometre
Y Cable Chain!
I did another test with that long screw and it is perfect thx i just modify a bit the speed.
