009 – assembling the extruder

Hi,

In section ‘009 – ASSEMBLING THE EXTRUDER’ the instructions say:

Next you will need the LARGE GEAR, 2 608 BEARINGS, 2 M8 washers and the HOBBED BOLT.

But then two sentences later it says:

Slide the 3 M8 washers over the bolt followed by a 608 BEARING.

The photo does show 3 washers so can I assume this is correct and that the first sentence is a typo?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

many thanks
Daniel
It can be 2 or 3 depending on the gear thickness.

basically you pack it out with the washers so that the big gear meshes correctly with the little motor gear.
If it’s to close into the extruder use an extra washer.
If it’s to far away use one less washer.
Thanks very much for the quick response.

Awesome.

cheers
Daniel

I have found 3 works better.

Here 3 washers worked perfect with the stock bolt. When trying a replacement bolt I used only 2 washers, to get a better alignement with the hot end. On washer is not possible, the big gear would not fit with the small one then.
