Y axis not responding anymore

Hi,

I just updated my firmware to v2.1.1 because i installed the K8204 Z-axis upgrade. I also added 2 new stepper motor drivers because i had two faulty once (on the e and x motor).

Now that i’m callibrating my printer again the Y axis does not respond anymore when i manually move it in repetier. Before i did everything mentioned above, the Y axis worked just fine. Could this be a software related problem or is this more likely a hardware issue ?

Anyone had something like this before? I read something about the wires of the stop switch touching the frame but that doesn’t seem to be happening in my case. (Unless i misunderstood which wires could be touching the frame.)

Did you try to home just the Y axis?

I tried to home it, to move it + and -, it looks like the motor isn’t doing much

Also, when i manually move the y axis (not in repetier but just by hand) it has no resistance on it, where the other axis do have resistance when i try to do that…

I just tried to switch the x and Y wiring on the board. This made the Y axis move when i commanded the X-axis in repetier and the X-axis does nothing when i command the Y-axis… so it’s not the motors or the wiring from the board to the motors, that’s for sure.

Trying to figure out which part can cause this because i’m pretty new to building electronic devices like this

Progress has been made, I reinstalled the older firmware (v1) and now the Y axis moves again, so i assume it does have something to do with the firmwareupdate i did previously.

I thought it was possible to just change the Z axis (‘speed’) in the old firmware so it works with the k8204 upgrade just fine. Can someone help me with how this shoud be done ?

Did you set the reference voltage to 0.55?

On the stepper drivers? I’ve set these to .425 and with the old firmware it works fine again. But since i have the k8204 upgrade I thought i must change the steps for the Z motor or something? (I might use wrong words since I’m just getting into this and english is not my native language.

Sonds like you compiled it with an arduino version othert than 1.0.6. The 1.0.6 is the only version out now that compiles marlin correctly!

If you use the velleman firmware for the K8204 (v2.2.1 if i remember correctly) You shouldn’thave to change anything.

cheers,

Christian

I have to check that tonight, I might have used version 1.6 instead of 1.06, I got it working though by changing the steps in the code v1.
